Crooze Pty Ltd. Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Crooze Pty Ltd (ABN 43 667 102 141) ("Crooze", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from https://crooze.com.au (the "Site").
Crooze is an Australian Privacy Principles entity under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains how we comply with those obligations.
Personal information we collect
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as "Device Information."
We collect Device Information using the following technologies:
- Cookies are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. Crooze uses cookies to help keep track of items you put into your shopping cart, including when you have abandoned your cart, and this information is used to determine when to send cart reminder messages via email and/or SMS. For more information about cookies and how to disable cookies, visit https://allaboutcookies.org.
- Log files track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- Web beacons, tags, and pixels are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.
Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as "Order Information."
When we talk about "Personal Information" in this Privacy Policy, we are talking about both Device Information and Order Information.
How we use your personal information
We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
- Communicate with you about your order or our products;
- Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and
- Where you have consented, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services via email or SMS.
We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimise our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).
Shop accounts and Shop Pay
Our online store is powered by Shopify. As part of Shopify's checkout, you may be offered the option to save your information for faster checkout across Shopify-powered stores. If you accept this option — either by clicking "Save", by leaving the default consent in place when completing your purchase, or by using Shop Pay as a payment method — Shopify will create a "Shop" account using the email address, phone number, and other details you provided at checkout. This account is operated by Shopify and is separate from any account you may hold with Crooze.
A Shop account:
- Is operated by Shopify (Shopify International Limited and its affiliates), not by Crooze;
- Allows you to sign in to and track orders across other Shopify-powered stores;
- May receive marketing communications and order updates from Shopify directly;
- Is governed by Shopify's own Terms of Service (https://shop.app/terms-of-service) and Privacy Policy (https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy/consumers).
You can decline Shop account creation at checkout by clicking "Not now" on the Shop prompt, or by not clicking the "Save" button if presented.
If a Shop account has been created and you wish to delete it, you can do so at https://shop.app/opt-out. Deletion is handled by Shopify and may take up to 30 days to complete.
We acknowledge that some customers have raised concerns about the consent design used in this part of Shopify's checkout. Crooze does not control the design of the Shopify checkout flow, but we welcome customer feedback on this and continue to raise it with Shopify directly.
Marketing communications
If you have consented to receive marketing communications from us — for example, by ticking a marketing opt-in box at checkout, subscribing to our newsletter, or otherwise giving us your express agreement — we may use your email address or phone number to send you information about our products, promotions, sales, and news.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by:
- Clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email we send you;
- Replying STOP to any marketing SMS we send you; or
- Emailing us at help@crooze.com.au.
We will action unsubscribe requests promptly. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Sharing your personal information
We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us operate our business and provide our services to you. These include:
- Our e-commerce platform provider, which powers the Site and processes transactions on our behalf. As part of the checkout experience, our platform provider may also offer to create a "Shop" account — see "Shop accounts and Shop Pay" above;
- Payment processors, who process your payment;
- Logistics and shipping providers, including couriers and parcel-pickup services, who deliver your order;
- Marketing, email, and SMS service providers, who help us send communications you have consented to receive;
- Analytics, advertising, and measurement service providers, including providers of behavioural advertising and remarketing services;
- Inventory, warehouse, and order management providers, who help us manage stock and fulfil orders;
- Customer service and communications platform providers, who help us respond to your enquiries;
- Suppliers, vendors, and product manufacturers, in connection with warranty claims, recalls, or after-sales support;
- Our professional advisers, including accountants, bankers, and auditors; and
- Government regulators, law enforcement, courts, and dispute resolution bodies, where required by law.
We take reasonable steps to limit disclosure of your Personal Information to what is necessary for the relevant purpose. You may request further information about the categories of recipients we share your Personal Information with by contacting us (see "Contact us" below).
We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights or those of our customers and the public.
Overseas disclosure of personal information
Some of our service providers process Personal Information outside Australia. Recipients of your Personal Information are likely to be located in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, depending on the nature of the services those recipients provide to us.
Where Personal Information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through our agreements with them. We cannot, however, guarantee compliance with Australian law by recipients outside Australia. By using the Site and providing your information, you consent to such overseas disclosure.
Behavioural advertising
As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative's ("NAI") educational page at https://thenai.org/self-regulatory-framework/faq/.
You can opt out of targeted advertising by:
- Facebook / Meta — https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
- Google — https://adssettings.google.com/anonymous
- Microsoft / Bing — https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings/signedout
Additionally, you can opt out of some of these services by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out portal at: https://optout.aboutads.info/.
Do not track
Please note that we do not currently alter our Site's data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser. If browser-level privacy signal standards become more widely supported in Australia, we will review this position.
Data retention
When you place an order through the Site, we will retain your Order Information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, including for the purpose of satisfying any legal, accounting, taxation, warranty, or reporting requirements. In particular:
- Order and transaction records are retained for at least seven (7) years to comply with Australian taxation and consumer law obligations.
- Marketing contact details are retained until you withdraw your consent.
- Customer support correspondence is retained for a reasonable period to assist with follow-up enquiries.
When personal information is no longer needed for any of these purposes, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it in accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 11.
Accessing, correcting, and complaining about your personal information
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Request that we correct any inaccurate, out-of-date, or incomplete information;
- Make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information.
To make an access, correction, or complaint request, contact us at help@crooze.com.au or by post (see Contact us below). We will respond to your request within a reasonable period — generally within 30 days — and will not charge a fee for access requests unless they are particularly large or complex.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your complaint, you can refer it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
- Website: https://www.oaic.gov.au
- Phone: 1300 363 992
- Post: GPO Box 5288, Sydney NSW 2001
Children's privacy
Our Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we have collected information from a child in this way, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was most recently revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
