Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pick the correct helmet size for my child?
How do I pick the correct helmet size for my child?
The best fit for any helmet should be a nice snug fit, not too tight, and definitely not loose. You should only be able to fit one or two fingers under the chin strap, and the helmet should fit level on their head. While sizing can be similar between brands, most manufacturers will differ slightly between sizing, so it's always best to check the size chart of a model before commiting to a size.
Most brands have readily available sizing charts, but if you're not sure, feel free to contact us!
How do I measure my kids head for a helmet?
How do I measure my kids head for a helmet?
Head circumference is best measured about two finger widths above the eyebrows, around the widest part of the back of the head. It's always best to use a flexible tape measure, or you can use a piece of string, and measure the length flat against a ruler.
Can I return a kids helmet if it doesn't fit properly?
Can I return a kids helmet if it doesn't fit properly?
Absolutely! Every head is unique, and sometimes sizing may be incorrect even if you're following the size chart. You can check out our full returns policy and find our returns form here.
Are kids required to wear bike helmets?
Are kids required to wear bike helmets?
Kids helmets are an absolute must. While most states have laws making it mandatory for kids to wear a helmet while riding a bike, they are also essential to ensure your child's safety. Kids don't have fully developed coordination, and are more susceptible to crashes and bumps than most experienced riders. Helmets minimise and can prevent severe head injuries in the event your child comes off their ride.
What is MIPS?
What is MIPS?
MIPS is an advanced helmet technology, it stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, and adds protection from rotational forces in the event of a crash. While not absolutely necessary, it offers additional protection, especially at higher speeds.
When should I replace my kid's helmet?
When should I replace my kid's helmet?
Most helmets come with a manufacturer's recommended replacement timeframe. The foam and straps can degrade over time with UV light and contact to natural oils slowly damaging the helmet. Most helmets will last 3-5 years, but you should always replace them sooner if the helmet is getting too tight, or after any crash or impact.
