The Belter 16 is the world’s top-selling belt drive bike, ideal for riding on tarmac, gravel, grass, or dirt. It offers an enjoyable ride with minimal maintenance, making it perfect for young adventurers.

Meet the Belter 16

The Belter 16 is a lightweight 5.9kg children’s bike engineered for use on tarmac, gravel, grass, and dirt surfaces. Its advanced geometry enhances stability, manoeuvrability, and pedalling efficiency for young riders. Constructed from 6061-grade aluminium, it features a low-maintenance Gates Carbon Belt drive that provides smooth, rust-resistant performance. Equipped with lightweight aluminium wheels, weatherproof bearings, and Tektro brakes designed specifically for kids, the Belter 16 delivers reliable control, comfort, and durability.

Geometry to get kids moving

Geometry plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, enjoyment, and skill development. Even simple neighborhood rides require thoughtful design to help children build proper riding abilities confidently. Like the rest of the Belter series, the 16 incorporates short chainstays to enhance manoeuvrability in tight areas. Its relaxed head tube angle provides stability when navigating curbs, while the handlebar height balances comfort with optimal pedalling efficiency—essential for tackling hill climbs.

A 5.9kg aluminium frame, beautifully crafted to last

Our bikes are crafted from 6061-grade aluminium, an exceptional material known for its strength, light weight, weather resistance, and durability. Its responsiveness enhances power transfer from pedals to wheels, enabling longer, easier rides. This results in a bike designed to consistently perform and endure over time.

A no rust, no fuss carbon drive train

The Gates Carbon Belt drive is an exceptional component that substitutes the traditional steel chain and cassette with a durable, stretch-resistant, and entirely grease-free drivetrain. This system is simple to clean, demands minimal upkeep, and is rated for up to 20,000 km of use. Combined with a premium Hyperglide freehub and aluminium sprockets, it delivers outstanding performance, ensuring the bike is consistently ready for the next ride.

Wheels that reset expectations

The Belter wheelset is engineered for enduring performance, enabling young riders to cover greater distances and navigate obstacles repeatedly. Pioneering the use of cartridge bearings and cassette hubs in children’s bikes, we’ve upgraded to a new 4-bearing design that significantly reduces weight, friction, and improves durability. Paired with ultra-lightweight aluminium rims and cartridge bearings throughout, this wheelset offers more riding enjoyment with minimal maintenance requirements.

Tyres that keep you on track

The Belter 16 comes equipped with 2” fast-rolling tyres as standard, designed to make learning both safer and easier. These tyres offer smooth performance on flat surfaces, enhanced grip in wet conditions, and greater stability over uneven terrain. This means riders can confidently handle changing weather or explore off-road paths. Additionally, the increased air volume provides extra cushioning, making rides not only safer and more adventurous but also more comfortable and enjoyable.

Touchpoints that elevate control

Every contact point on The Belter—including handlebars, saddle, pedals, and grips—has been anatomically crafted to suit very small riders. Partnering with Ritchey Logic, pioneers in component design for over 50 years, we have collaborated for more than a decade to develop some of the finest age-specific components available on children’s bikes.

Little levers, big stopping power

The Belter 16 is equipped with age-appropriate Tektro V brakes featuring ultra-short reach levers and light-pull actuation, designed to make braking effortless for small hands. The brakes provide smooth, responsive feedback, helping new riders develop a clear sense of controlled stopping from the outset. Crafted entirely from aluminium, the levers offer added durability, protecting against damage if the bike is dropped.
