The Early Rider Charger 12" is built for young riders ready to push their limits. Featuring a lightweight aluminium frame positioned low for confident handling, this balance bike combines stability with speed. Wide 2.0" tyres deliver superior grip and control across varied terrain, while internal cable routing allows for easy brake upgrades when your child is ready to progress. Designed to fuel their sense of adventure, the Charger transforms learning to ride into an exhilarating journey.

Meet The Charger

Built around a lightweight 6061 aluminium frame and equipped with fast-rolling 2.0" tires, the Charger is designed to fuel young riders' sense of adventure. Its carefully developed geometry encourages confidence, safety, and skill development, while premium rims, hubs, and tires deliver a smooth and dependable ride across various surfaces. Designed with durability, sustainability, and long-term performance in mind, the Charger is an environmentally conscious bike built to inspire generations of young cyclists.

Progression from the first push off

Even as a balance bike for the youngest riders, geometry matters. A well-designed frame can make the difference between a child developing a lifelong passion for cycling and losing interest before they begin.

Thoughtfully engineered geometry promotes stability, confidence, progression, and enjoyment. It combines both science and craftsmanship—something that has been refined through more than 18 years of dedicated kids' bike development.

Lightweight aluminium, beautifully crafted

The Charger is constructed from premium 6061-grade aluminium, extending beyond the frame to include more aluminium components than many competing bikes.

Known for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, aluminium is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and provides a comfortable ride feel. It is also fully recyclable, making the Charger and Big Foot models durable, environmentally responsible bikes that can be passed down and enjoyed by multiple riders.

Roll model

The Charger is equipped with lightweight aluminium rims and hubs, paired with high-quality ABEC-rated sealed cartridge bearings that reduce rolling resistance and improve efficiency.

Using lightweight wheel components allows for the inclusion of higher-volume tires that enhance grip, comfort, and safety without adding unnecessary weight. The result is a balanced setup that delivers both performance and confidence for young riders.

Tread carefully

The Charger features fast-rolling 2.0" wide tires designed to provide the stability, comfort, and traction young riders aged 2–4 need while learning to ride.

The increased air volume improves ride comfort, while the tread pattern delivers dependable grip on a variety of surfaces, including wet conditions. Whether riding on pavement, gravel, or mixed terrain, these tires help young riders build confidence in all weather conditions.

Designed to ride, built to upgrade.

The Charger comes fitted with a lightweight and durable Ritchey handlebar and stem combination made from high-quality aluminium.

Internal cable routing not only creates a cleaner appearance but also makes it easy to upgrade the bike with a braking system as a rider progresses. An optional Tektro rear brake kit, featuring a light-pull lever and short-reach design, can be added when the rider is ready to develop braking skills.

Control and reliability are at the heart of the design. Ritchey Logic has spent over five decades pioneering component innovation, with founder Tom Ritchey recognized as one of the key figures in the development of mountain biking. Through more than ten years of collaboration, specialized components have been developed specifically to enhance the riding experience for young cyclists.

Sustain-Ability™

Producing bicycles requires resources, but true sustainability comes from creating products that last. Many children's bikes are designed with limited lifespans, often failing to outlast a single rider. Early Rider approaches this challenge differently through its commitment to "sustaining ability."

This philosophy focuses on building bikes that continue to inspire child after child, encouraging skill development and fostering a lifelong love of cycling. By prioritizing thoughtful design, premium materials, and durable components, these bikes are made to perform for years.

Sustainability also extends beyond the product itself. It includes supporting safe workplaces, promoting employee well-being, strengthening communities, and upholding ethical standards throughout the supply chain. The goal is to ensure lasting value for riders, workers, and future generations alike.
