6801 LLU MAX BO - MAX-Design, Black-Oxide, ABEC-3, Radial Suspension Bearing - 12 x 21 x 5mm
Enduro Bearings introduced MAX-type bearings nearly two decades ago, specifically tailored for bicycles to tackle the challenges encountered with mountain bike pivots. MAX bearings excel by offering 35-40% greater load capacity compared to standard radial bearings. This enhanced capability is achieved through a specialized design where the maximum quantity of balls is integrated into the bearing, facilitated by a custom ground slot in the races. Deep race grooves further fortify these bearings, delivering substantial lateral support to counteract the multi-directional forces and twists inherent in mountain bike pivots.
The MAX-type ABEC-3 bearing, coated in Black-Oxide for added durability, encompasses deep-groove design races, Grade 10 balls, and full-contact, double-lip, labyrinth (LLU) seals, ensuring optimal defence against the elements. It retains 90% fill of Almagard extra high-pressure grease inside, with an additional Black-Oxide/Magnetite coating enhancing corrosion resistance and offering extended hassle-free performance.
This particular bearing has been widely adopted as a suspension pivot bearing by several esteemed bicycle brands, including Orbea.
Within the Enduro line of bearings, options abound, spanning high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic-hybrid, and XD-15 with ceramic or stainless balls. Each bearing undergoes meticulous engineering, featuring the deepest feasible groove races to accommodate larger balls, while incorporating dual-lip seals that navigate through micro-grooves, forming an all-encompassing labyrinth for superior protection against external elements.
