Not all stainless steel is crafted equally.

At Enduro, we exclusively utilize 440C stainless steel balls and races to ensure extended lifespan and exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly in challenging applications and environments. 440C stands out among the standard 440-series stainless alloys due to its highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance, attributable to its high carbon content. Expectedly, it is also the most expensive alloy in the 440 series, requiring multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic treatments to achieve its superior mechanical properties. Despite having 20% less load capacity and slightly less hardness compared to our standard 52100 chromium steel used in the majority of our bearings, stainless steel serves as an excellent alternative, especially in wet conditions, frequent bike washing scenarios, or situations where sweat exposure is a concern. To further enhance water resistance against the elements, Enduro Bearings incorporates LLB-type seals and CRC Marine Grease into these bearings. The Enduro 440C stainless headset bearings are identical to those found in numerous renowned headset brands, some of which offer a 110-year warranty.

Our lineup of headset bearings starts with chromium steel, featuring a Black Oxide finish A/C type, and then presents the top-tier full 440C stainless steel bearings. They are consistently engineered with the largest possible balls and equipped with dual lip seals riding in micro-grooves, offering unparalleled protection against sweat and environmental elements. Additionally, they come pre-filled to 90% capacity with high-pressure waterproof grease, ensuring there's no guesswork concerning the presence of grease inside. Utilizing Enduro Angular Contact (A/C) bearings, we ensure that all balls are engaged, effectively distributing force over a larger surface area, resisting water pressure, and minimizing wear.
