Among the standard 440-series stainless alloys with high carbon content, 440C stands out for its supreme strength, hardness, and wear resistance. As anticipated, it holds the distinction of being the priciest among the 440 series alloys and demands multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic procedures to attain its superior mechanical properties. Although stainless steel possesses 20% less load capacity and a slightly softer composition compared to our standard 52100 chromium steel, prevalent in most of our bearings, it serves as an outstanding alternative, particularly suitable for wet conditions, frequent bike washing scenarios, or situations where sweat exposure is a concern. Enduro Bearings reinforces these bearings with LLB-type seals and CRC Marine Grease, further fortifying their resistance against environmental elements. The Enduro 440C stainless headset bearings mirror those found in numerous renowned headset brands, some of which carry an extensive 110-year warranty.

Our range of headset bearings commences with chromium steel, sporting a Black Oxide finish A/C type, and culminates in full 440C stainless steel at the top tier. These bearings are consistently engineered with the largest possible balls and equipped with dual lip seals that traverse micro-grooves, ensuring unparalleled protection against sweat and the elements. Moreover, they come pre-filled to a 90% capacity with high-pressure waterproof grease, eliminating any uncertainty about the presence of grease within. Through the utilization of Enduro Angular Contact (A/C) bearings, we ensure that all balls engage, effectively dispersing force across a larger surface area, effectively resisting water pressure and minimizing wear.
