Being the most expensive alloy within the 440 series due to its high carbon content, it necessitates multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic processes to achieve its outstanding mechanical properties. While stainless steel exhibits a 20% lower load capacity and slightly softer characteristics compared to our standard 52100 chromium steel commonly used in most bearings, it serves as an excellent substitute for wet conditions, frequent bike washes, or areas prone to sweat. Additionally, Enduro Bearings employ LLB-type seals and CRC Marine grease in these bearings to enhance waterproofing against environmental elements. The Enduro 440C stainless headset bearings are identical to those found in numerous popular headset brands that offer an impressive 110-year warranty.
