ACB 4545 150 SS - 1 1/2" 440C Stainless steel Angular Contact Headset Bearing - 40 x 52 x 7mm (45 x 45 deg)
Not all stainless steels are crafted alike. Enduro exclusively employs 440C stainless steel balls and races to ensure extended longevity and superior resistance against corrosion in applications and environments that may not be optimal. Among the standard 440-series stainless alloys with high carbon content, 440C stands out for possessing the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance. As expected, it is the most expensive within the 440 series alloys and necessitates multiple rounds of heat and cryogenic treatments to attain its exceptional mechanical properties. While stainless steel has a 20% lower load capacity and is marginally softer compared to our standard 52100 chromium steel utilized in the majority of our bearings, it remains an outstanding choice, particularly in wet conditions, for frequent bike washes, or where sweat may pose an issue. Enduro bearings also integrate LLB-type seals and CRC Marine Grease in these bearings to further waterproof them against environmental elements. The Enduro 440C stainless headset bearings mirror those found in numerous reputable headset brands, some of which offer a 110-year warranty.
The Enduro line of angular-contact headset bearings starts with Chromium Steel races treated with Black Oxide, transitions to full 440C stainless steel, and culminates in the top-tier XD-15 aerospace-stainless (incorporating both races and balls) with a lifetime guarantee. These bearings are consistently engineered to accommodate the largest possible balls, incorporating dual-lip seals travelling within a micro-groove (labyrinth). They are filled to a 90% capacity with high-pressure waterproof grease to provide optimal protection against sweat and external elements. Enduro Angular Contact (A/C) bearings are meticulously designed to ensure all balls are uniformly engaged, distributing force across a wider surface area, thus reducing friction, minimizing wear, and maximizing longevity.
