Among the standard 440-series stainless alloys with elevated carbon content, 440C stands out with its supreme strength, hardness, and wear resistance. It is also the most expensive alloy within the 440 series, necessitating multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic processes to achieve its outstanding mechanical properties. While stainless steel may hold 20% less load capacity and be marginally softer than our usual 52100 chromium steel utilized in most bearings, it serves as an excellent alternative in damp conditions, frequent bike washes, or where perspiration poses an issue. To enhance water resistance against the elements, Enduro Bearings incorporates LLB-type seals and CRC Marine Grease into these bearings. Enduro's 440C stainless headset bearings align with those featured in numerous renowned headset brands, some even boasting a 110-year warranty.
The lineup of Enduro's angular-contact headset bearings commences with Black Oxide-treated Chromium Steel races, progresses to complete 440C stainless steel, and peaks with the premium XD15 aerospace-stainless (comprising both races and balls), backed by a lifetime guarantee. These bearings are consistently engineered to accommodate the largest balls feasible, incorporating dual-lip seals operating within a micro-groove (labyrinth). Additionally, they are filled to 90% capacity with high-pressure waterproof grease, ensuring optimal protection against perspiration and environmental elements.
