This ceramic-hybrid bearing, rated ABEC-5, incorporates deep-groove races manufactured from 52100 high-carbon chromium steel and grade 5 silicon-nitride ceramic balls. It is equipped with dual-lip labyrinth (LLB) seals designed to protect against external contaminants and retain 90% filled Kluber NBU52 grease, which is ultra-smooth, tacky, and water-resistant. The use of Si3N4 ceramic balls minimizes wear by preventing metal-to-metal contact, thereby significantly enhancing the bearing’s longevity.
This radial bearing is commonly utilized as a hub bearing in certain quick-release hub configurations, serves effectively as a pedal bearing, and can function as a pivot bearing; however, the MAX-type variant of this bearing is more appropriate for suspension applications.
Enduro bearings come in high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic-hybrid, and XD-15 versions, featuring either ceramic or stainless steel balls. They are designed with the deepest groove races feasible to fit the largest balls, optimizing performance. Every standard bearing includes dual-lip seals that engage with a micro-groove to form a full labyrinth, delivering exceptional protection against environmental contaminants.
