This radial bearing is constructed with 440C stainless steel alloy races and Grade 10 balls, featuring ultra-low drag VV dual-lip seals designed to resist external contaminants while retaining 90% fill Kluber NBU52 grease, known for its smoothness and water resistance. The VV seals offer the lightest contact, enabling the highest rotational speeds among our bearings, though they provide less environmental protection compared to LLB or LLU seals. Commonly used as hub and pivot bearings, the MAX-type variant is recommended for suspension applications.
Not all stainless steel is created equal.
Enduro exclusively utilizes 440C stainless steel balls and races to ensure extended durability and exceptional corrosion resistance in challenging environments. This alloy offers the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance among standard 440-series stainless steels due to its elevated carbon content. Achieving these superior mechanical properties involves multiple heat and cryogenic treatments. While stainless steel bearings have about 20% lower load capacity and are slightly softer than the typical 52100 chromium steel used in most bearings, they provide an excellent solution for wet conditions, frequent bike washing, or exposure to sweat.
Enduro stainless bearings come with a comprehensive two-year anti-corrosion warranty. The Enduro range includes options in high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic-hybrid, and XD-15 with either ceramic or stainless balls. These bearings are designed with the deepest groove races to fit the largest balls and incorporate dual-lip seals that engage a micro-groove, forming a complete labyrinth for enhanced protection against environmental contaminants.
