This radial bearing is designed with 440C stainless steel alloy races and Grade 10 balls, as well as dual-seals and 90% fill with Mobil XHP 222 high pressure water proof grease. It is capable of enduring daily wear and tear and harsh environmental conditions.
This radial bearing is commonly utilized as a hub bearing for certain quick-release hub configurations, pedals, and can also serve as a pivot bearing. However, for suspension purposes, the MAX-type version of this bearing provides a more suitable option.
Not all stainless steel is created equal.
Enduro utilizes solely 440C stainless steel balls and races to ensure prolonged durability and exceptional resistance against corrosion in challenging applications and environments. 440C is renowned for its unmatched strength, hardness, and wear resistance among all standard 440-series stainless alloys with elevated carbon content. As anticipated, it carries a higher price point than other alloys and requires multiple rounds of heat and cryogenic treatment to attain its superior mechanical properties. Although having 20% less load capacity and being slightly softer than our standard 52100 chromium steel, which is used in the majority of our bearings, stainless steel serves as an outstanding substitute for wet conditions, frequent bike washings, or scenarios where sweat is a concern.
The Enduro product line offers several bearing options, including high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic-hybrid, and XD-15 with ceramic or stainless balls. Our bearings are designed with deep groove races to accommodate large balls, and they also feature dual-lip seals that ride in a micro-groove, creating a full labyrinth for optimal protection against the elements.
