This radial bearing is constructed with 440C stainless steel alloy races and precision Grade 10 balls. It features dual-lip labyrinth (LLB) seals and is filled to 90% capacity with Klüber NBU52—an ultra-smooth, tacky, waterproof grease—designed to stand up to daily use and harsh environmental conditions.
This bearing is commonly used as a hub bearing in certain quick-release hub designs and as a pedal bearing. It can also serve as a pivot bearing, although the MAX-type version is better suited for suspension applications.
Not all stainless steel is created equal.
Enduro exclusively uses 440C stainless steel for both balls and races to ensure long service life and exceptional corrosion resistance, even in less-than-ideal environments. With its high carbon content, 440C delivers the greatest strength, hardness, and wear resistance of all standard 440-series stainless alloys. It is also the most expensive in the series and undergoes multiple stages of heat treatment and cryogenic processing to achieve its superior mechanical properties. While stainless steel offers approximately 20% less load capacity and is slightly softer than the 52100 chromium steel used in most standard bearings, it remains an outstanding choice for wet conditions, frequent bike washing, or exposure to perspiration.
All Enduro stainless steel bearings are backed by a full two-year anti-corrosion warranty.
The Enduro bearing lineup includes options in high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic hybrid, and XD-15 with either ceramic or stainless steel balls. Each bearing is engineered with the deepest possible race grooves to accommodate the largest balls and incorporates dual-lip seals that run in a micro-groove, forming a full labyrinth seal for superior protection against dirt, moisture, and debris.
