Robert Axle Project Lightning Rear 12mm 165mm Double Lead Thread Axle

After extensive mountain biking experience with thru-axles featuring cumbersome handles prone to snagging on trail obstacles, we developed a superior solution. The Lightning Bolt-On thru axles provide a premium, streamlined, and lightweight alternative to traditional bulky handles. They come in various sizes compatible with both front and rear wheels of all thru-axle equipped bicycles.

This axle is specifically designed to only replace rear Mavic Speed Release thru axles. With a special thread, a “double lead-in” thread, this axle is proprietary to the Mavic Speed Release system only.

The Lightning series delivers superior performance. Our front and rear Lightning Bolt-On axles provide a stronger, more durable, and lighter alternative to standard thru-axles with a sleek, low-profile design. Eliminating bulky handles reduces trail strikes and wind resistance. Engineered with internal bore holes, they remove excess material without sacrificing strength. Installation is simple, needing only a 6 mm hex wrench. Precision-crafted in the USA from aerospace-grade materials with CNC machining, these axles maintain tight tolerances to prevent loosening during rides.

KEY FEATURES

• The diameter of this axle is 12 mm and the true length of the axle shaft is 165 mm.
• Please note: Thru-axle lengths do not equal hub standards. An axle has to be longer than the hub to fit in the frame. A 12×142 hub does not equal a 142 mm long axle.
• This axle is designed specifically as a replacement for the Mavic Speed Release. This includes a special “Double Lead-in Thread” which is only compatible with Mavic Speed Release dropouts.
• Weight: 36 grams.
