The original sealant formula, introduced 2.5 years ago, was engineered to optimize puncture repair by increasing the liquid latex’s surface area for superior effectiveness. Professional racers appreciated its ease of use, as they often swapped tires depending on race conditions and could simply pour in new sealant without valve injection. However, casual riders raised two main issues: it dried out quickly when unused, and the longer strand carbon fiber content made injection challenging and messy if not managed properly.
The previous Natural Latex formula required a two-step process to maintain its liquid state longer. This has been replaced by our new blend of natural and synthetic latex, creating SILCA Ultimate Sealant as a one-step solution that lasts over six months. Most importantly, it continues to deliver reliable puncture sealing performance on race day.
