Our recommendation is to use Stan's 25mm Rim Tape for rims with an internal width between 23-25mm.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
For tubeless-ready wheels, use Stan's Yellow Tape. If your tire pressure will be 45psi or less, one layer of tape on the spoke holes of your rim is sufficient. However, for road tubeless and similar tires that require more than 45psi, a double wrap of tape is necessary.
WHAT IF I HAVE AN OLDER RIM?
BST (Bead Socket Technology), created by Stan’s NoTubes, has become the industry standard for tubeless-ready bicycles. However, it is important to note that older, non-tubeless-ready rims cannot be converted with just Stan’s Yellow Rim Tape. To achieve a secure tubeless setup, an additional Stan’s NoTubes Rim Strip (now discontinued) is required. We highly recommend considering a new tubeless-ready wheelset instead, but Stan’s Rim Strips and kits may still be available at local bike shops for converting vintage bikes with non-tubeless-ready rims. Please be aware that using only Yellow Rim Tape and Stan’s NoTubes sealant on a non-tubeless-ready rim may result in difficult inflation and potential "burping" problems. While Stan’s Rim Strips are no longer being produced, we are still dedicated to providing information and resources to assist in the conversion of non-tubeless-ready wheels.
