Enduro Bearings pioneered MAX-type bearings over 20 years ago for bicycles, specifically addressing challenges linked to mountain bike pivots. These MAX-type bearings deliver a 35-40% increase in load capacity compared to standard radial bearings. They achieve this by employing a unique design that maximizes the number of balls inserted into the bearing through a custom ground slot in the races. The extra balls, paired with deep race grooves, offer enhanced lateral support to withstand the twisting and multi-directional forces associated with mountain bike pivots. The ABEC-3 variant of this bearing features deep-groove design races, Grade 10 balls, and full-contact, double-lip, labyrinth (LLU) seals, ensuring maximum protection against the elements while maintaining a 90% fill of Almagard extra high-pressure grease inside.
Notably, this bearing has been employed as a suspension pivot bearing by several bicycle brands, including Devinci.
The Enduro line of bearings encompasses various options such as high-carbon chromium steel, 440C stainless steel, ceramic-hybrid, and XD-15 with ceramic or stainless balls. These bearings are consistently engineered with the deepest groove races achievable to accommodate larger balls. They also incorporate dual-lip seals riding in micro-grooves, forming a comprehensive labyrinth to ensure extended longevity and superior protection against environmental elements.
